Journey to Peace1 and 2 : My landscape paintings are depicting diverse natural
environments, the beauty of nature of different states of US. These landscapes
represent vibrant energy of nature, based on a folk-art style form from India, using
paper collage with mixed media painting; the style is very simple and rustic. This
technique represents Shisha Work where Indian artisans in villages use broken mirrors,
sequins in their art works. I used brilliant colored sequins and other materials to
represent dazzling, alive, fresh life force energy of nature; in plants, water, stars, sun,
birds and raindrops to bring the dynamics of alive nature in my art. This series of
landscapes resonated in my heart as “Journey to peace”. They ignited the healing
energy of natural environments in my meditations of peace. As we moved to different
states of USA over time, I was amazed to observe and create these landscapes to
express the diversity of nature in different US states. Along with the process of art
making my inner journey of finding peace also evolved to help me integrate my inner
and outer quests.
These paintings are also representing the blending of cultural diversities of two different
but beautiful cultures – as I used colorful Indian folk art style (Shisha work) to depict the
beautiful nature of different states of USA. My meditations helped me to realize that
irrespective of all differences the true nature of inner peace is what we all are seeking in
our life.
The life force energy of nature depicted in these paintings is to bring the onlooker the
peace of nature as healing touch. The peace of nature is always vibrant with life force
energy that heals the inner disturbances of our mind. Meditation on these paintings may
help people to receive the peaceful energy of nature to heal stress from life.
